MAS extrusion lines for PET processing

Individual solutions for plastics extrusion

Polyethylene terephthalate—or PET—is a thermoplastic material used in many different products. It can be found in typical plastic bottles for water and beverages or as an essential component of sheets and textile fibers which have become indispensable in the fashion and clothing industry, and especially for food packaging.

The proper processing of PET involves numerous challenges. PET extruders must cover a range of applications and be fully customizable to meet the requirements of different industries and applications. Individual MAS extrusion lines are a major advantage for the food and beverage industry and for the fiber industry. We would be happy to advise you on a customized solution for PET processing.

High-grade PET processing

When handling PET, each company and industry has its own specific requirements and approaches to achieving the desired quality and the required properties as quickly and energy-efficiently as possible. MAS lines for plastics extrusion can be used in both re-pelletizing and in-line applications. All PET recycling and virgin material fractions, such as bottle flakes, sheet flakes, and pellets, are processed in a single step—including any additives and fillers. The patented conical design of the processing unit enables gentle processing at low speeds and a high screw filling level over a very short processing length at low melt temperatures.

Naturally, our PET lines also rely on the technical innovation of our conically co-rotating twin-screw extruders. This proven, patented technology ensures excellent homogenisation of fluctuating input material qualities and large degassing areas. The result is outstanding IV, colour and AA values with extremely low energy consumption. Depending on the application, subsequent polycondensation steps can be optimised. In addition, the pre-drying of virgin material and industrial waste can be completely omitted, while even FDA or ESFA certifications are generally not a problem thanks to the appropriate system design.

Complex lines built to order

MAS lines for PET processing are highly complex systems. MAS customers often cover a wide range of materials and applications, from large corporations in the food and beverage industry and traditional recycling and upcycling companies to sheet processing for individual, performance-optimized properties.

We design lines that can be fully customized to meet all your requirements and challenges equally. These very complex PET processing systems, consisting of several connected extruders and dryers, can be fully customized, including with regard to pre-drying or the number of reactors used. Based on your initial customer inquiry, we will determine exactly which performance characteristics have to be met in terms of moisture, contamination, and additives. We offer the perfect extruder for your PET challenge, one that fits your line exactly.

What is MAS?

Founded by recycling pioneer Helmuth Schulz in 2006, the company is revolutionizing the exceedingly high quality standards of twin-screw extruders for the recycling industry. MAS masters the challenges of modern recycling and upcycling requirements thanks to its patented technology and became an international driver of innovation in no time. Customers around the world benefit from environmentally friendly added value while saving energy and resources.
