MAS 110: The new generation of extruders from MAS - compact and powerful at the same time.

Recycling with MAS
twin-compound-lines

The recycling solution
for high demands

MAS twin-compounding systems produce recycling compounds of particularly high quality. The compounding duo combines two conically co-rotating twin-screw extruders and a continuous CDF melt filter , meeting even the highest quality applications and challenges. The flexible and versatile twin-compound lines mix plastic fractions with a wide range of additives in a targeted manner, standing out due to the gentle incorporation that meets all requirements. We would be happy to provide you with a comprehensive consultation on the ideal twin-compound line for your application.

fluctuating input qualities of different recycling fractions are successfully balanced and quickly homogenized

Multi-level blending

top-quality output generated from additives

Energy efficiency

low temperature, low shear, gentle treatment

Upcycling for the highest quality

The regranulation of plastic fractions focuses on the targeted modification of properties in order to optimize them for further processing and produce high-quality products. In In contrast to the re-compound line , the twin-compound line uses a second twin-screw extruder after the CDF melt filter. Valuable additives of the highest quality can be added at several levels—both before and after filtration. This multi-stage adjustment of the pellets enables optimized, tailor-made additive applications. Substances that are not compatible with one another can be added separately. Likewise, very expensive additives do not have to pass through the melt filtration process and can therefore optimally develop their desired properties. Furthermore, fibers can be added even more gently and supplemented with highly specialized substances such as glass fibers, carbon fibers, or glass beads. MAS twin-compound systems are suitable for a wide range of recycled materials and compensate for variable inputs quickly and efficiently. Our experts will respond precisely to your wishes and requirements in order to make your upcycling processes as simple, fast, precise, and high-quality as possible. Comprehensive test procedures for your lines (whether planned or already in existence) based on the information and data you provide ensure the highest quality regranulate.

How the
twin-compound line works

All recycling fractions, such as materials with low bulk density or regrind, are mixed with additives and fillers in the first conically co-rotating twin-screw extruder. Impurities such as pieces of wood, paper, non-melting foreign plastics, or rubber are removed with the continuous CDF melt filter after the first twin-screw extruder.

The material then enters another MAS twin-screw extruder. Further additives, fillers, reinforcements, and fibers can be added here. The large feed opening enables the rapid introduction of long and irregular fibers, such as natural, wood, or carbon fibers. The material in the twin-screw extruder is also efficiently degassed thanks to the large melt surface. The conical design enables pressure to be built up for the subsequent pelletizing process without the use of an additional melt pump, which in turn increases energy efficiency. The material is pelletized using strand, water ring, or underwater pelletizing.

What is MAS?

Founded by recycling pioneer Helmuth Schulz in 2006, the company is revolutionizing the exceedingly high quality standards of twin-screw extruders for the recycling industry. MAS masters the challenges of modern recycling and upcycling requirements thanks to its patented technology and became an international driver of innovation in no time. Customers around the world benefit from environmentally friendly added value while saving energy and resources.
