MAS 110: The new generation of extruders from MAS - compact and powerful at the same time.

Recycling with MAS upgrade extrusion lines

The recycling upgrade for high demands

Conventional re-pelletizing systems with a recycling extruder + melt filter + pelletizer configuration often have throughput (kg/h) and pellet quality limitations. MAS offers an upgrade extrusion line as an optimal solution, enabling existing recycling extruders to be operated at significantly higher throughputs with perfectly degassed pellets of much higher quality.

Existing lines can be specifically expanded, retrofitted, and commissioned with MAS upgrades. This is how we create top-quality systems with high-performance extruders. We would be happy to provide you with comprehensive advice on expanding your extrusion line.

Unique benefits

Flexible design

even materials that are difficult to degas can be degassed successfully and easily

Simple expansion

thanks to high-quality, tried and tested MAS machines and lines

Complete re-pelletizing

good continuous filtration and strong degassing even of materials that are difficult to degas

Low investment:

maximum effectiveness with manageable expense

Homogenization

balancing out fluctuating input qualities of different recycling fractions leads to faster homogenization

Energy efficiency

low temperature, low shear, gentle treatment

Why is an upgrade necessary?

Conventional extrusion lines often suffer throughput issues and lose the highest possible quality of the output material. Some components are also difficult to filter out, such as solvents, color particles, and other volatilized components.

MAS upgrade extrusion lines can be easily and cost-effectively installed on existing extrusion lines. This upgrade system consists of an additional CDF melt filter and a cascade extruder TA . They significantly increase throughput, markedly improve pellet quality, and increase venting performance along the entire extended extrusion facility.
We plan and organize the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of your upgrade line. Based on exact technical specifications and/or an on-site visit, as well as comprehensive information on the desired performance targets, we can design upgrades that will fully meet your requirements and make your upcycling processes significantly easier and more effective. And all of this for existing lines of all kinds.

How extrusion lines are expanded

Impurities can be removed extremely efficiently and continuously from the melt flow with the installation of an intelligent CDF melt filter, specially developed and patented by MAS for recycling applications, wood, paper, non-melting plastics, rubber, and similar materials. Continual functionality eliminates the need to constantly and laboriously change the mesh screens, while also reducing personnel costs to a minimum. Similarly, existing filters in extrusion lines can be exchanged for the MAS CDF version.
Downstream of the CDF filter, a short single-screw extruder (standard length only approx. 15 l/d), equipped with a highly efficient degassing zone patented by MAS, ensures the highest quality.

The specially developed degassing zone of the cascade is equipped with a melt distribution segment. Combined with an optimally designed screw geometry, this generates a constantly renewing, maximized melt surface. Three generously dimensioned degassing domes, coupled with a vacuum pump[WK1] sized to match demand, guarantee highly efficient degassing of even the most difficult-to-process melts.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY

What is MAS?

Founded by recycling pioneer Helmuth Schulz in 2006, the company is revolutionizing the exceedingly high quality standards of twin-screw extruders for the recycling industry. MAS masters the challenges of modern recycling and upcycling requirements thanks to its patented technology and became an international driver of innovation in no time. Customers around the world benefit from environmentally friendly added value while saving energy and resources.
